We will leave Puerto Viejo at 7:45 am, then drive for like 30 minutes, arrive at the Bribri Indigenous reserve, where we’ll join an Indigenous family, learn about their culture and a variety of medicinal plants. Participants will then have the opportunity to learn about the history of the cacao tree, taste the fruit, make puréed chocolate. After the chocolate tour, we will visit a refreshing waterfall in the mountains of Talamanca. Participants will have the opportunity to swim in the large pool under the falls. After that, we will return to Puerto Viejo. A fruit will be included in this tour. For the pick up, if you are staying in or around Puerto Viejo, Cocles or Punta Uva, just send a message with the name of your hotel, and we will pick you up there. Many thanks.

Braulio was very knowledgeable about the Bribri and their way of life, as well as about various flora and fauna. He was particularly knowledgeable about chocolate, and even brought the fresh cocoa fruit from his farm for us to try before we made chocolate from the dried fermented beans with the Bribri. The experience was really great overall, getting a mix of culture, nature, tasty treats and even swimming under a waterfall. I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting a new experience and wanting to learn more about the local way of life.

Awesome trip! Braulio was an incredible guide. We learned a ton about native culture and the plants around the area. Making chocolate was an amazing and tasty experience. We even saw some nice wild life!

We highly recommend this tour! Our tour leader Braulio was excellent. He has a passion for the environment, wildlife , sustainable, organic agriculture and the BriBri culture. He had a great sense of humour and his English was excellent. The chocolate making was interactive, and gave an appreciation for pure chocolate and the effort involved in producing it. Delicious!! We learned about the BriBri and their past and present lifestyle and we were happy to support the Indigenous people of this area. The waterfall walk was also beautiful and we were able to see some (nocturnal) eyelash vipers as an added bonus. Thank you Braulio, Pura Vida Kathy, Ken, Patti and Dave
