Visit the 17th-century St John the Baptist Fort and wander along the pretty pathways of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Then, explore the island’s caves on a glass-bottom boat excursion (included). Numbers are limited to eight, ensuring personalized attention from the guide. IMPORTANT: Since 2019 the control over the maximum number of visitors at the Island has been changed. Therefore, during high season (July and August) the time spent at the island may be shortened.

What an amazing trip to go to from Lisbon. We started our day off by driving to the port where we took a really fun ferry to the island. From the island, we toured around the island where we learned about its history, cultural significance, and geography. The water was beautiful and the temperature was perfect! From there we boarded a glass-bottom boat where we saw the sea life of the local area. Afterward we had some free time to snorkel. It was way too cold for me, so I opted to hike the whole island. Next time in Lisbon I'll definitely be doing this again!

Terrific day! Our tour started and ended with a van ride to a boat ride and a boat ride to a van ride - and in between we got to see the stunning Berlenga archipelago and enjoy a hike, glass bottom boat tour, and have some down time to purchase food and drink and even go swimming (or kayaking or snorkeling). Stunning area.

Loved the island! Although we were physically able to hike to the monastery, you should warn people that there IS a hike with 300 steps down. One lady in our group had great difficulty.
