Batalha Monastery, Batalha, Portugal Then we will take you to Batalha Monastery. Located in the town of Batalha in central Portugal, is a magnificent example of late Gothic architecture and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Monastery of Batalha was commissioned by King João I of Portugal in 1386 to commemorate the Portuguese victory at the Battle of Aljubarrota against the Castilian forces in 1385. The monastery exemplifies the Portuguese Gothic style, characterized by intricate stone carvings, ribbed vaults, and elaborate ornamentation. It also incorporates elements of Flamboyant Gothic architecture, especially notable in the Founder's Chapel. 60 minutes
Monastery of Alcobaca, Alcobaca, Portugal We will visit Alcobaça Monastery, officially known as the Monastery of Santa Maria de Alcobaça, is another UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the town of Alcobaça. The Monastery of Alcobaça was founded in 1153 by the first Portuguese king, Afonso Henriques, and entrusted to the Order of Cistercians.
The monastery is an exemplary work of Gothic architecture in Portugal, characterized by its simplicity, harmony, and monumental scale. The church and the cloisters are notable for their austere yet elegant design, emphasizing spiritual contemplation and communal living. 60 minutes
Nazare, Nazare, Portugal We will take you to visit the small and charming town of Nazaré, renowned for its stunning beach and towering waves, which attract surfers from around the world. Nazare is situated on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, approximately 120 kilometers north of Lisbon. The town is nestled between cliffs and overlooks a wide sandy beach that stretches along the shoreline. Obidos Village, Obidos, Portugal The tour will end in Óbidos, a perfectly preserved medieval town surrounded by ancient walls. The entire tour was fantastic, the flexibility was there and the client really mattered opposed to some tours where you were required to watch the clock.
The tour was highlighted by a tour guide that is not only knowledgeable but incredibly passionate about the Portuguese heritage, culture and history. Made me proud to be Portuguese.
I would not hesitate to go on this tour again, i highly recommend it and Diogo is an absolute must.
