Alex was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable. We walked the grounds of Pena as she explained the architecture types and reasons. Then we delved deep into the spirituality of Regaleira, topped with a nice lunch. Then a visit to Monserrate castle and the treasures it holds.

The guide for this day trip ‘forgot’ about the tour and never showed up. This tour was supposed to be from 9:00-5:00. After speaking to a man in the Viator office, he confirmed the tour was canceled because the guide forgot about it. This left us to finding a different and more expensive tour company to take us for the day. Terrible! Viator claims I will get a refund but that doesn’t make up for the inconvenience caused.

Pena Palace is just beautiful. However, the niche system is constraining especially in bad weather and forces us to consume on site. Despite the kindness and helpfulness of the catering team we are very disappointed the dishes were really not good and expensive. We still liked the visit of this beautiful place.
