In 1790 the estate eventually falls on the hands of Marquês de Pombal one of the most renown Portuguese historical figures, whose architecture achievements made Lisbon the city it is today.

    At Óbidos village you’ll have time on your own to unveil one of the most well preserved medieval villages in Portugal which has been occupied long before the Romans reached the Iberic Peninsula. A very enjoyable day with a knowledgeable and fun guide Vasco. He was very easygoing and flexible and made minor itinerary changes smooth and seamless due to spending extra time at one of the wineries. It was great not to be rushed and herded like cattle. Similarly, wine tours madeira made adding an additional person to our tour last minute a non-issue. The contrast between new and old wineries is striking and made the visits even more interesting. Great trip for wine lovers!

The tour was amazing. Our guide, Vasco, was very friendly and he kept the tour very entertaining. The wineries that we visited were gorgeous and the wine was delicious. We wish we could have brought more wine back with us. Our lunch was also very authentic Portuguese cuisine which we enjoyed immensely. The tour ended up taking longer than originally anticipated, but we didn't mind so much. Overall I would definitely recommend taking this tour.
