Experience an unforgettable afternoon as you head north from Lisbon to the UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape of Sintra. Admire the Royal Palace, the best preserved medieval palace in Portugal. Located in Sintra Village itself, the Royal Palace was inhabited continuously from the 15th century through the late 19th century, and was the summer playground of Portuguese royalty. You'll identify the palace's hallmark conical chimneys, and appreciate the rich collection of azulejos, or glazed tiles. continues as we pass through the lush gardens of Parque Natural Sintra-Cascais, making our way to Cabo da Roca (from March to October), the westernmost point in continental Europe. Then soak in ocean sights as we journey along the coast, passing Guincho Beach, a windsurfing favorite, and Boca do Inferno (November to February), a natural grotto created by the sea. Upon reaching Cascais, you'll enjoy the view overlooking the bay.

We thought there would be visits to castles. Not just seaside towns. Very disappointing. Good guide and driver

Sintra was enchanting! Our tour visited one of the three main sights, which is better than nothing, but once there, I wish we’d had time to do the full day tour, or better yet stay one night to see both palaces and the castle. After the palace tour, we didn’t really have any time to see the town of Sintra. By the time I got through the WC line, and the pastry/coffee line, it was time to run catch the bus. The guide (Ann?), was juggling three different languages. Would have loved more detailed information about what we were seeing, but with three languages to cover, we just got the basics. The most western point of Europe was a novelty, but I don’t think we really needed 30 minutes there - would have rather had more time in Sintra. Cascais was a touristy but cute beach town to stroll for 40 minutes. In short, this tour gave us just a taste of each of the three stops. The bus was comfortable and clean, and left from an easy to find/central area of Lisbon.
