Livia (our guide) provided great information and insights about Portuguese cuisine and culture. Our tour walked through several different communities within Lisbon and incorporated history and traditions into her talks. The tour was limited to 10 people and 8 of us already knew each other but she took time to build a rapport with everyone and the two we didn’t know were part of the “family” by the end of our tour. The venues and samples at four different stops were varied and delicious! Port, cheese and ham at one stop, salted cod and batatas at another, Mozambique influenced samosas and finally samples of grilled sardines, octopus, chorizo and tomato jam - all matched with local wines. The walking pace was fine. Livia’s experience as a chef also provided good explanations of how the foods were prepared. I would highly recommend!
