    Moorish Castle – Sintra Monuments Skirting two Sintra mountain ranges, the Moorish Castle dates back to the early days of the Moorish occupation of the Peninsula - the eighth century. After many attempts, was finally taken by Dom Afonso Henriques first king of Portugal in 1147, and was built the first Christian Chapel of the city, dedicated to St. Peter of Penaferrim. In the romantic period, in 1860, the walls were restored under the supervision of Dom Fernando II, husband of Dona Maria II, who wooded the surrounding areas, and gave a new dignity to the ancient medieval ruins. Noteworthy is the Moorish Cistern inside and the so-called Royal Tower. Located about 3.5 km from the historic center of Sintra.

    Park and National Palace of Pena Museums and Palaces Pena National Palace Visit the fantastic Pena Palace exponent of 19th century Romanticism in Portugal. Set on the top of Monte da Pena, the palace was built on the site of a former monastery. Built by D. Fernando de Saxe Coburg-Gotha, who married Queen Dona Maria II in 1836. After falling in love with Sintra, he decided to buy the convent and surrounding lands to build a summer palace for the royal family. A restaurant has been installed in one of the palace wings, with a terrace offering a beautiful panoramic view over the Sintra Mountains and the coast.

Jorge made our day absolutely amazing! He was so fiendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel so comfortable during our tour. We highly recommend this tour company if you’re looking to experience Sintra, but booking with Jorge is a must!

George our driver/guide was so amazing! We had 4 adults and a 1 year old, he was so patient and helpful with the baby even when she was crying. He brought us to a cafe for the best cappuccino we’ve ever had and pastries which were truly amazing. He was also so helpful with the plans for our Sintra experience Highly recommend! This was the highlight of our Lisbon trip

Our day in Sintra was amazing. My husband and I were picked up/dropped off at our AirBnB in Lisbon which was extremely convenient. Unfortunately Pena Palace employees were on strike at the time but our quick thinking tour guide Filipe took us to the Palace da Regaleira instead. The grounds were breathtaking and the wells were a once in a lifetime experience. Following that we went into the town square of Sintra for a bite to eat then headed to Cabo da Roca. More breathtaking views at the most westernmost point of Europe. We took a scenic drive from there back to Lisbon through the town of Cascais and took a look at its gorgeous coastline. This was our last activity in Portugal and was a 10/10. Thank you!!
