We were a group of 5 that got a great guided walk in the national park. Our guide showed us plants, trees, animal tracks, birds along the way. We saw zebras, giraffes, warthog etc and the grand finale was the white rhinos. Friendly and safe. All in all highly recommended!

Have done this place twice in July 2018 and May 2019 and i total loved the experience.. But off course the Safari Ride in July was better than May 2019 one. Should do this one. Saw some White Rhino too.

I was privileged enough to be staying in Livingstone for twelve days and to be able to join a walking tour of Mosi Oa Tunya with the incomparable Chiinga. First I’ll explain that as a person with degenerative disc disease, my back is often in pain and walking can be hard. This walk was around 3 hours and as there was a lady on the tour with a bad knee, we took it easier and were driven from one spot to another, so actual walking time was around 90 minutes and not over the toughest terrain; enough to feel the exercise, not enough to harm. This adaptive approach to the guests on any given day I later realised is a hallmark of Savannah’s work.
The walk itself was beautiful; peaceful, impressive seeing dawn over the park, and scintillating because of Chiinga’s range of knowledge.
Even Evans our bus driver knew so much about the local flora and fauna that he was educating us on the trees while Chiinga found a guard to accompany us. And when we began, I can honestly say that in all my years of foraging and hiking through the countryside in Europe and South America, I’ve never met anyone whose knowledge had such gentle command, depth and scope. I felt confident that I could track and distinguish between many of the Big Five tracks and scat after this one walk, that I knew how to respect the animals and to stay safe being so close to them, and that Chiinga knew how to manoeuvre through this space causing no damage but respecting and honouring this land he’d grown up in. From seeds on the ground to birds in the trees, there was no question we asked that wasn’t carefully and considerately answered.
My highlight was seeing the family of five white rhino we’d tracked for an hour, and also how our accompanying guard stayed with us even when learning of his wife’s illness, until we got back to an outpost and he was relieved. The national park guards as well as Savannah are dedicated to the guests safety and experience and that was impressive to watch. I felt completely safe at all times.
It came as a big shock to learn of Chiinga's demise yesterday in the park and yet I can’t help but think that if he had to go, it would have been there doing what he loved the best and what he dedicated his life to. And the knowledge that he trained his staff and fellow guides to his extremely high and loving standards means that Savannah will stay one of the premier tour guiding and birding companies in Livingstone. The legacy he leaves is testament to his incredibly likeable and engaging nature. I’m only sorry my children won’t be able to meet him on our return trip but I’m confident that those left behind will honour his memory and this amazing work, connecting us back to our roots and a love for nature that is so needed in these times. Thank you, Chiinga and Savannah Southern Safaris.
