This is the only place where a visitor can experience unique finds you can see nowhere else in the world. The Vergina gold treasures and royal tombs are the most important archaeological discovery of the 20th century in Greece and a UNESCO site. The classical pebble mosaics of Pella are the only ones from the 4th century BC found in such a good condition in the ruined villas. Visit the two Macedonian kingdom capitals at your own pace, learn about this great ancient kingdom of Philip and Alexander and enjoy a traditional taverna lunch in between.

Pick up can be arranged from any city hotel or appartment in Thessaloniki for private tours by taxi, limo or van. No transportation is included in the guiding fee shown.
If you stay outdside the city, then an extra charge is added, depending on the distance, tolls, time needed.
Further contact with the guide via the portal messenger system about the extra transportation cost is required before the booking is confirmed.
Pick-up, all transportation done during the tour and drop-off is not included in the tour's price and is agreed upon request.

    The first half of the day is a private guided visit to the birthplace of Alexander the Great, ancient Pella archaeological site and its new excellent museum. Pella was the second ancient capital of the Macedonian kingdom, known as the birthplace of Alexander the Great. We will see the unique ancient mosaic pebble floors in the rich mansions and in the archaeological museum together with many other valuable finds of the area.

  • Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai (Vergina), Vergina, Greece
    We then continue to the first ancient capital of the Macedonian kingdom, Aigai, nowadays called Vergina. We'll see the tomb of king Philip II (father of Alexander the Great) and the tomb of the Prince and the exhibition housing their gold and silver royal treasures. The most important archaeological discovery of Greece in the 20th century. Go underground to admire the treasures of gold, silver and ivory hidden in Great Tumulus.

If you have researched Phillip II and Macedonian history you do not need a guide. All sites have plaques with all the information and same for the museums. We went to lunch and our guide sat at our table. We ordered lunch and she spoke Greek to the server. I assumed she told him separate checks. She did not. I was going to offer to pay for her lunch however she just assumed we would pay for her. Also, she did not even Thank us for lunch. Quite rude. I suggest you book a car with driver and save the guide fee. We will do so in the future. Driver was excellent.

We had a wonderful day with Efi. Our son, who studied classical archaeology, was really excited to visit Pella and Vergina. We came away really impressed with the sites and the knowledge Efi was able to provide as complement to the museum exhibits.

Η ξεναγηση ηταν πολυ καλη και παρολο που ο καιρος δεν βοηθουσε καναμε ξεναγηση και στην αρχαια Πελλα με παροτρυνση της Εφης και ηταν υπεροχα. Το μουσειο της Πελλας ειναι ενα μικρο διαμαντι και νομιζω οτι ολοι πρεπει να το δουμε Η ξεναγηση με μια εμπειρη ξεναγο δινει αλλη βαρυτητα
