This is the ideal tour to experience Mountain biking for beginners or those more experient who just want a relaxed mountain bike tour. You will be guided into Madeira mountain landscape and exuberance forest trails.

    Itinerary: The tour starts at picking point or hotel pickup. Then stop at the Poiso area about 1400m ~4600ft. Along the whole trip you will able to see the amazing views of Madeira Mountains and sea from south to north. After finishing the first smooth descent part we will encounter at about 800m ~2600ft a single flat trail, into the ancient Laurel forest, and after some more 45 min, we stop for a quick lunch( not included) in a very typical local restaurant, or you can bring your own snack and join with the rest. from here were will follow some of the levadas trail towards Camacha where we end the tour. Length: ~4-5 hours Distance: Approx. ~30Km

  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • The trail level rating is GREEN and BLUE. Riders should have basic knowledge of key bike, handling skills such as position on the bike, balance and braking.
  • Requires a minimum 2 persons per tour(for one person please contact to arrange available group date)
  • Recommend to bring: Waterproof jacket, comfortable clothes, water, snack.
This experience is non-refundable and cannot be changed for any reason. If you cancel or ask for an amendment, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

We are a couple with a bit different biking background so we were happy to connect with Rosbert at Lizardcycles. He really made sure he understood what kind of biking tour we wanted, and our skill levels, to arrange a great experience for both of us. The route he chose was perfect for us, and during the day he shared so much of his knowledge about the nature and history of Madeira. He has explored so many trails on the island that I trust he could arrange biking tours on any level, and with good variation too if you want to go on several tours. We only stayed for a week this time, but will definitely get in contact with Rosbert if and when we go to Madeira again, and I warmly recommend you to do the same!

Great bike tour in lush forests with amazing views. Tour guide was very nice, knowledgeable and adapted easily to the level of the group.
