Once used as a Roman palace in the 3rd century, it was restored under Charles I (Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor) and his son Philip II of Spain in the 1540s. In 1521, Hernán Cortés was received by Charles I at the Alcázar, following Cortes' conquest of the Aztecs. Most of the alcázar was rebuilt, or restored, between 1939 and 1957 after the Siege of the Alcázar of the Spanish Civil War.

This is a very efficient and relaxing way to enjoy both Toledo and Segovia, without the hassle and stress of driving or finding your train connection, with an air-conditioned bus, plenty of time of having your "fiesta" of napping time between the stops, and a very good summary of the historical background through your tour guide ! Ramiro, the guide, was fantastic with making sure that we were on schedule and that questions from indidual travelers were answered. On a side note, plans may be altered due to weather changes, so be a little flexible. Overall, you should definitely consider this option if you are interested in history, culture, and a geographical overview of these stunning two cities !!
