We were so appreciative that our guide gave us a wonderful tour even though the fog was thick. We saw things we hadn't seen before.

The town seemed pleasant enough, but not enough to spend the whole day, so we booked a bus tour round the National Park. The high point, visually and geographically, is Mount Cadillac. Okay, the rain came down and the mist descended, and all we could do was read the information boards to see what we were missing. Paradoxically, in view of the weather, the “Thunder Hole”, where waves sometimes force water high into the air with a mighty roar, was less than thunderous. But that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. We were there, and we could imagine what it might have been. You have to take it as you find it on the day. The 2.5 hour trip was certainly worth the time and money, and it still gave us time when we got back to take a walk around the town and along the coast path.
