    Admire the monuments of the Old Town, such as St.Michal’s Gate and Tower- the city gate that ranks among the oldest town buildings. St.Michael’s Tower is the last remaining of the city gates from the medieval fortifications. Afterward, continue to the Rococo-style Grassalkovich Palace-the residence of the president of Slovakia. Grassalkovich Palace is the 18th-century social spot for the Hungarian aristocracy. Admire Primate’s Palace, as many people say, the most beautiful building in Bratislava. Enjoy free time for lunch and explore the city on your own. Later, meet up with your driver again for a smooth return to your accommodation in Vienna.

When considering different options, we chose the private tour rather than the train with a guide in Bratislava because we thought it would provide us more flexibility. The driver picked us up in Vienna and asked if we wanted to be taken to Bratislava castle and when I pointed out that it would not even open for an hour after our anticipated arrival time, he then said he would take us to the city center. When we arrived, he pointed in a few different directions that we could go and then got in the van and left. We understood he was not a tour guide but thought we would get a little more insight into Bratislava (history, sites to see, local things to check out). For the cost, I would recommend the train and then meeting a local guide to actually help you explore Bratislava

The private transfer to Bratislava was very nice. We met our guide Ingrid at the castle and we began our tour. Ingrid was wonderful and gave us so much interesting history. My mother in law was with me so Ingrid took her time walking us around making sure my mother in law was comfortable and able to keep up. We loved our day!

This tour was very expensive. The drive r arrived later for pick-up initially staying 8am then 9am then 9:20am. The driver wasn’t flexible with pick-up times and we had to leave by 3pm hence the day was rushed. Bratislava is not a nice city - the local people are extremely rude and very unfriendly and it didn’t feel safe. I do not recommend this tour.
