Learn about the origins and early years of Hitler on a 2.5-hour walking tour of historic Vienna. On this tour, you will hear the History of Austria and Europe from 1900 until 1955. Alongside your guide, you'll find out the answer to the following questions: How did an Austrian postcard painter turn into the world’s most hated man? Where could Hitler and Stalin have met? Plus, you'll see the scars of World War II and visit the only synagogue to survive the Holocaust. Take a deeper look into the darkest days of Vienna’s history.

The period of National Socialism saw the departure, persecution and murder of artists and employees. For several works there was a ban on performance.

    The "Seitenstettentempel" is hidden behind a tenement building. The main synagogue of Vienna is located at Seitenstettengasse 4. According to the regulations in force at that time, non-Catholic places of worship had to be hidden and could not be visible from the street. Therefore, the synagogue stands behind a five-story apartment building. Above the entrance gate of the street building is the inscription: "Come to his gates with thanksgiving, to his courts with praise!" on this tour you will visit also other places, we have just added to list the main attractions.

We thought the tour guide did an exceptional job bringing us through history and explaining the back stories to help us understand the points he was making. He made sure everyone saw his pictures that documented the facts he told us, and made sure he answered everyone’s questions. He was excellent!!

This tour was a great way to see various sites around the city associatied with Hitler. The guide was excellent, thoroughly knowledgeable and personable. He actually acknowledged the uncomfortable truth that many Austrians supported and even collaborated with the Nazi regime, which several other guides skirted over. Although, because of geography, the tour can't go in chronological order, the stories at each site were interesting and educational.
