    House of Music in central Vienna, a museum more off the beaten track, is dedicated to the ‘science’ of sound as well as classical music itself. With all its interactive displays a truly entertaining place for the whole family! Highlights include the historical archives of the Vienna Philharmonic where you can listen to their famous New Year’s Eve concert and the brandnew Sonotopia Universe on the 2nd floor. It´s here where you can create your own sound creature in a VR Lab but also test interactive stations on the physics of sound. If Beethoven, Mozart or the Strauss family are of interest, then head up to the 3rd floor to learn about their lives in the city and the music they created. Grand finale is the virtual conductor exhibit on the 4th floor - test your conducting skills by waving a baton along to a video of Vienna Philharmonic playing. You will even get feedback after having a go! You might want to enrich your visit by downloading the free museum guide on your smartphone.

A Casa da Música em Viena é um lugar incrível! A experiência é interativa, educativa e divertida, perfeita para todas as idades. Aprender um pouco mais sobre a história da música e dos compositores austríacos foi muito legal. Além disso, as áreas interativas tornam a visita inesquecível.

Really really great place for the whole family! Not too large but with great variety of interactive presentations of sound and music. The children can create sounds and music through motion, listen to various musical instruments and even conduct an orchstra with Zubin Mehta! When visiting this museum you can really get the imprerssion on how significant music was - and maybe still is - in Vienna. The museum's shop is also charming and you can purchase lots of cool souvenirs and items related to music there. The museum is conveniently located near Karlplatz. You just have to go straight towards Stephansplatz and it's one of the first streets on the right.

This museum has something for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and think it was our favourite museum in the whole of Vienna. It is very interactive for children to get involved in and I would definitely recommend going, just to experience conducting an orchestra! Definitely worth the money and a visit.
