Mdina, Malta's former capital is situated on a hilltop in the central part of the island and dominates over two - thirds of Malta. It is one of Europe's finest examples of an ancient fortified city, characterized by medieval and baroque architecture. Known by the locals as the " Silent City", it encloses within its walls palaces belonging to Maltese aristocratic families, the majority of which are secondary homes.
Walking through Mdina you will feel as though the city has been frozen in time; its narrow winding streets, majestic palaces, churches and courtyards make this city unique, a must-see during your stay in Malta!
Rabat, a suburb of Mdina, is also a historical town with strong religious ties. According to tradition during his 3 months stay in Malta, St Paul the Apostle lived in a grotto beneath the parish church.Your guide will lead you along some of the most typical street in Rabat highlighting the most important architectural features as you go along.

An excellent tour with history, particularly of some of the buildings and a very informative guide. I highly recommend a guide to bring your visit to Mdina alive. The city does get busy with group tours so if you are on a day visit and want a coffee, I suggest getting there early and perhaps head for the Fontanella Tea Garden for when it opens. The brief visit to Rabat at the end of the tour was a pleasant, peaceful contrast and great place from where to find lunch!

We met Vishna at the meeting point and from the outset she was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, she showed us some great sights that we wouldn’t have found on our own. In our group there were a total of 7 people which was lovely as it made it easier to ask questions and hear the answers. She made it really interesting for all my party, she blended humour and Maltese culture in with the fact telling. I would definitely recommend a walking tour as you get to find out so much more than just going it alone! A great way to spend a few hours on Easter Sunday!
