We emigrated from the UK over 10 years ago and we know what you're looking for. We always put you first, but the quality of our tour locations are a very close second. We won't tolerate establishments that merely tolerate tourist travellers. They have to excel in in Service and Quality, or we leave them out. This tour is a favourite for the more active Cruise ship passengers and tourists alike. We spend a day enjoying local wildlife, culture, food and drink. The rainforest section can include light and easy walking for up to 1 hours, and then a much more adventurous active hike for the second hour if desired. If not we can hop back on the bus and meet the rest of the group at the finish line.

The tour start time can be changed to fit any cruise ship.

We will be waiting at the cruise ship port passenger terminal with our red Manta Tour Guide uniforms and name cards at the ready. Right outside the arrival gate. The passenger terminal is a small modern building. You will see us right away.

We can also arrange pickups from anywhere in and around Manta. Transport from further afield can be arranged on request.

    This tour will take us along the main coast road in Manta to the historic fish market, the base of the local economy as well as the Traditional wooden shipyard right on the beach. The daily life of the fishermen has not much changed in generations and the massive wooden skeletons of the fishing trawlers being built are truly impressive.

  • Pacoche Wildlife Refuge, Pacoche, Ecuador
    Start times will adjust to Ship arrival. The first stop is a trip to the green abundance of the Pacoche rainforest. Secluded in the humid microclimate this national park houses an immense variety of birds, monkeys and all sorts of local wildlife. Your guide will team up with a local resident here to help highlight all the interesting sights and sounds. The walk is 2 hours long, with the first hour being very easy mostly level terrain with some steps with bamboo railing. The second half is a little more demanding as we traverse some rocky terrain and local dear tracks along and across small streams. Feet will likely get wet here. Less adventurous types can turn back at the halfway point and meet us and the finish point on the bus.

  • Playa San Lorenzo, Manta, Ecuador
    Famous as a breeding ground for sea turtles, during the winter months, we can often see the eggs hatch and the baby turtles striving towards the surf. They will return 40 years later after reach breeding age. This awesome little town is home to various expats who have accomplished their dream of living and working in paradise. We can get a traditional meal at the beachfront restaurants and bars. You’ll see a lot of strange dishes that are really tasty. We recommend the Tongas.

  • Montecristi, Montecristi, Ecuador
    Next, we will travel to the home of the famous Panama Hats, Montecristi. Sheltered at the feet of the Landmark Mountain is the town that birthed these sombreros many generations ago. Once in the small town center, your guide will show you the Panama hat makers workshops and stores as well as a huge variety of local artisan goods. We can also see some of the last examples of the traditional wooden architecture in the central plaza next to the cathedral.

Manta Tours Tony Calvin Pacoche Rain Forest Willys II Montecuador Hats We had a great tour of the area near Manta with our wonderful guide, Tony, from Manta Tour Guides, and our driver Calvin. We started at the Pacoche Rain Forest, about 30 minutes from the city (Refugio de Vida Silvestre y Marino Costera Pacoche). Tony and a park guide led us on a paved path through the forest where she pointed out many plants and birds. The highlight came when an entire troop of capuchin monkeys began moving through the trees above us, at least 20 individuals including a few babies and juveniles. Incredible! Next we enjoyed the view from the San Lorenzo Lghthouse, followed by a beachside lunch of local dishes at Restaurante Don Willy II in nearby Santa Marianita. I had the ceviche, which I highly recommend. Next we went to the Montecuador Hat Factory to see how Panama Hats are made by hand using traditional methods. (Despite the name, Panama Hats actually originated in Ecuador). Very interesting, and I bought one for my father and one for myself. Overall it was a great day, and Calvin got us back to our ship in plenty of time. I cannot recommend these guys enough. Muchas gracias Tony y Calvin!

Guide war am Hafen sofort zu sehen. Er war sehr freundlich und hat viel erklärt. Auch der Fahrer war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Im Regenwald wurden Flora und Fauna von einer sehr netten jungen Frau ausgiebig beschrieben und erklärt. Einziger Nachteil war das Essen am Strand a la Carte. Wenn man kein Spanisch konnte war man aufgeschmissen. Insofern haben wir uns für das falsche Gericht entschieden, welches fast ungenießbar war. Ein vorbestelltes Essen, welches im Preis enthalten gewesen wäre, hätte die Tour perfekt gemacht. Ansonsten eine schöne Tour.

It was an enjoyable excursion. Easy meet up at port terminal, comfortable coach for 10 travelers from the same cruise ship. Our guide Stephen speaks English well and translated for us whenever needed. I am glad we get to try local cooking at San Lorenzo beach. We had special clams and sautéed octopus in garlic sauce which was my fav. Local beer brand grande (10 oz) was $2.50! our whole lunch for 2 was $26.50 including tax. A big fried fish was $18 and took a long time but the person who had it said it was very worth it. I wish I was able to see the monkeys at Pacoche but the park guide gave detail info on the plants along the path and showed us pictures on her phone. We were lucky with the weather, it was relatively cool and not humid at all. I did not get any insect bite - I did spray the repellent and covered up most of my body. I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting Manta Ecuador. Oh and buy the little hand made carving animal on veggie ivory at port terminal!
