  • Maputo Elephant Reserve (Reserva Especial de Maputo), Maputo, Mozambique
    Maputo Natural park (formerly known as Maputo Special Reserve) is a nature reserve in Mozambique. The reserve is located on Maputo Bay, approximately 100 kilometers southeast of the city of Maputo, Mozambique. The Reserve is 1,040 km2 (400 square mile) in extent and was originally proclaimed in 1932 to protect a small population of coastal elephants resident in the area. The reserve combines lakes, wetlands, swamp forests, grasslands and mangrove forests with a coastline that lies within the Maputaland Centre of Endemism. According to the latest data, the number of elephants in the reserve is about 400. Currently it forms part of the Usuthu-Tembe-Futi Transfrontier Conservation Area. Fauna: Includes +400 African elephants, Birds (Kingfisher, Fish Eagle and many more), zebra, antelope, crocodiles, hippos, small bucks (red duiker, suni, reedbuck and steenbok).

What a beautiful day with 2 fantastic guides. Picked us up right on time and on we went. We thoroughly enjoyed everything, especially our brunch next to the lake, our visit to the beach, the animal encounters, and the fantastic and natural scenery. Compared to safaris in more traditional areas, the animals are more skittish and fewer, but still plentiful and majestic. Would recommend.

Foi tudo ótimo! Desde a chega no horário marcado, a comunicação fácil e rápida, as condições do transporte, e claro o passeio em si. Nosso guia Calisto sabia por onde ir, onde encontrar os animais (não sei como ele faz, mas consegue ver à milímetros de distância!). Vimos muitos animais! A ida à praia (Milibangalala) foi ótimo também - praia linda e limpa, praticamente para nos!)

Good guide, beautiful nature, I recommended this park. Is big and very good view. Very interesting forest. We can see different animals ,giraffe, zebra, elephant and many different antilop.
