 Rediscover the magic of a bygone era aboard the historic Mary Valley Rattler. 
The Mary Valley Rattler fleet is made up of heritage steam & diesel locomotives, rail motors and carriages each with their own unique story. 
The historic Gympie Station on Tozer St, has been restored to its former glory. Make sure you arrive early enough to take time to wander through the station where you can learn the stories of the Mary Valley Rattler line, its people, and its history. The popular Rusty Rails Cafe offers a dine in experience before or after your rail journey, or you can buy take away treats to enjoy on board. You can even purchase a bottle of wine and a local cheese platter for the ride. The gift shop offers a selection of local goodies as well as speciality giftware and souvenirs.

I went on the Silver Bullet, the new train to the group of historic trains. We were treated to a delicious high tea, and local treat on the way back. This experience was absolutely the best as solo, the staff were friendly, some a wonderful sense of humour and put everyone at ease. I would do this again.

It was a very nice journey , very informative, although the country side was quite dry the views across the valley and towards the mountains were great. We’d booked for lunch on the return journey which was served on the platform . Extremely well organised food was yummy .

We had the pleasure of spending the morning traveling on the wonderful steam train with our doggy Milly. The staff were so happy, friendly and helpful making our day enjoyable. Can’t recommend enough, worth the drive from Burrum River and the cost.
