My husband and I visited this place in july and went to Matera as part of travelling round Puglia. We stayed in Bari old town. We took train from Bari, which coat approx less than 10 €. We wandering around the town, up and down through the Sassi. You have to be in a Good shape though.
 I was disappointed that We didn’t book the guide tour and didn’t stay over in Matera so I have more time there.
We enjoyed this visit and very happy we did it, I would like to come back there again someday.
