Come see nature at its best as you go turtle-watching on the East coast of Trinidad, in a tiny villages call Matura where we go through a little forest area the road condition varies depends on weather condition so we may have to use other turtle watching site to witness the giant leatherback turtles . Your contibution goes to help the young people of the villages who are trying to make a difference in their life. It's truly a pure nature tour! The endangered leatherback turtles come ashore from March 15th. to september 15th of each year for their nesting season. These giant leatherback turtles visit these shores as many as 3 or 4 times during the season to lay between 480 and 1,000 eggs. As you may know, they can be up to seven feet in length. Many of the turtles can weigh more than 2,000 pounds. These magnificent creatures travel for thousands of miles in the water to come here to lay there egg Turtle watching is from 15th March to 31st August 2024

    Travelers will experience one of natures annual turtle nesting ground. This season starts from 1st Aprial to 31st June and this is a night time excursion to view the endangered Leatherback Turtles lay their eggs as well as see their hatchlings. Come face to face with natures giant weighing up to 1,500 pounds and measuring three meters across A minimum of two persons per booking is required.

  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Nick was great company, very responsive and hugely knowledgeable. He’s been in TT tourism for over 20 years - lots of great stories and information! Our tour took us to Las Cuevas as the conditions were favourable and the journey much shorter (around 1hr each way from Port of Spain). We arrived and met our guide, Arlene. For the next three hours we were up close with enormous leatherback turtles digging their nests, laying eggs and covering their tracks. It felt like it passed in a moment - extraordinary. Would highly recommend!
