We're called Unique for a reason... This is not your standard Hana tour. We'll take you on a full day adventure all the way to Hana and beyond then back, or all the way around (depending on weather and road conditions). We will stop at all the best spots along the way, as your driver negotiates the busy 650+ turns and 55+ one-lane bridges. You can just kick back, take in the views, and enjoy the fun! Highlights may include hiking through lush jungle, swim in pristine waterfalls, taste fresh banana bread and coconut ice cream, hidden lava tubes, scenic view points, local food trucks and farm stands, black or red sand beaches... and learning about Hawaii's history, geology, and legends... Remember it is YOUR private tour, so talk to your guide about what YOU like and want to do!

    You'll have time to take a dip at Hana's famous Black Sand Beach in Wai'anapanapa State Park, check out the lava tube, and take a short walk along the rugged coastline for an amazing view at the vivid contrast of colors.

    One of the Road to Hana's most amazing waterfalls! Weather-permitting, you'll be able to swim in the "refreshing" water (read: chillyyyyy!!), and even get behind the waterfall for an epic photo.

    Just beyond Hana is a small hill, where it is said the bones of Pele, Goddess of the volcanoes, are buried. The rock is crumbly and erosion has turned the beach a deep shade of red. (Note this is not Kaihalulu / Red Sand Beach, which requires trespassing on private property and following a dangerous trail on which accidents happen regularly--we don't do that).

    We'll drive over the bridge that crosses over the famous Seven Sacred Pools, aka Oheo Gulch. Beautiful photo op! (Note: if you want to enter the National Park and hike up on the Pipiwai trail through the Bamboo Forest, up to Waimoku Falls, please select the 7 Sacred Pools & Bamboo Forest Hike Tour!)
  • Alelele Bridge, Hana, Hawaii, United States
    Another stunning view on the Road to Hana, right at the edge between the lush rainforest of the "wet" side, and the dry brush of the "backside". (Note: going all the way around East Maui is NOT guaranteed, as it depends on weather, road conditions, and ongoing road works).
  • Ho'okipa Beach Park, Paia, Hawaii, United States
    On the way back, if you still have a little bit of energy left, we can stop at Ho'okipa beach to check out surfing action, and hopefully a few turtles basking in the sun!

Lance was a great guide. He shared a lot of information about Hana and Maui in general. We have beautiful memories of our trip and are thankful for a truly unique experience.

When my spouse and I travel, we always make an attempt to take smaller, locally-owned tours. We find them more personal, flexible, and fun. Unique Maui Tours did not disappoint. In fact, out of all the tours we’ve been on, their Road to Hana tour was easily one of the best. Our tour guide, Lance, was friendly, knowledgeable, and a delightful road-trip companion. He came prepared with stories, local slang, natural history, fun facts, snacks, and extra towels. From our first stop to see the sea turtles to our last stop to see a double rainbow over the Haleakalā crater, we had an absolute blast. Lance provided everything we asked for (waterfalls and the black sand beach) and then provide more (bamboo forests, coconut ice cream, tide pools, banana bread and poke stands, and lava tubes). If you are going to take one excursion in Maui, let this be the one. Not only do you not have to drive some sketch roads yourself, but your guide will take to place you’d otherwise miss. Was worth every penny and will go down as one of our favorite days in Maui. Much mahalos!

Absolutely amazing! Made the Road to Hana unique and custom experience to cater for our kids (3 and 1). We booked for an 8 hour tour and our guide was so patient with all the toilet stops we ended up 11.5 hours and he was still laughing and joking and creating more bespoke stops. One of our best private tour experiences. Thank you Lance for a really special experience, one we will remember for a lifetime filled with so many firsts like swimming in a waterfall and going into off road lava tunnels with our kids.
