Bohorok, Kabupaten Langkat, Sumatera Utara 20774, Indonesia If you stay in the Ecolodge or would like to come there on your own before the trek, please wait at the reception. Your guide will be there at 9 am, wearing a T-shirt with our Logo, trekking clothes and black rubber shoes, so you can easily recognize him.

On request we are happy to arrange a pick up at Medan Airport or any other places in North Sumatra for you (please get in touch for more details).
One day before the trek, your jungle guide will meet you at your guesthouse to get to know you and give you a short introduction about the tour.
The next morning you will meet your guide about 15 minutes before you start the trek into the rainforest. If you stay at the Ecolodge or at a hotel nearby, the entrance to Gunung Leuser National Park is just a few minutes walk away. In case your accommodation is located outside of Bukit Lawang in the rural area, your guide will pick you up by motorbike or tuktuk, so you can start trekking in Bukit Lawang at 9 am.

Tipp: We recommend using mosquito repellent before we start our trek into the rainforest.

  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

We did a two day trekking with the Jungle Guide and had a great experience. Communication is great, everything is well organised. Our guide Pipit was very knowledgeable about the jungle. Would definitely recommend them!

Our jungle adventure we booked with The Jungle Guide was a great experience! At first, the contact through the app was very good. Senta answered our questions very quickly and extensively. Everything was clearly explained in advance. We were given no less than 2 private guides. Sandi and Jojo are two warm people with a lot of humor and respect for nature. They told us all about the flora and fauna of the jungle of Bukit Lawang. Several times we saw Orangutans, Baboons, Lemurs and many more animals in the jungle. Sandy and Jojo surprised us many times, but we won't give that away– otherwise it is no longer a surprise. Except for the biggest surprise: the guides and cook surprised us with a cake for my birthday, while they conjured a birthday song out of their mouths with a big smile. The cook had gone to get this cake especially in Bukit Lawang (so a hike of a few kilometers back and forth!), because the guides found out that it had been my birthday a few days earlier. In short: it was an experience that we will ferquently remember with a big smile!
