Private coffee tour near Medellín, from bean to cup.

The coffee tour was amazing. We got to meet the Durango family and witness the coffee making process from seed to cup. Tasting all the different ways of brewing also. Sarita was such a wonderful guide, making us feel welcome and comfortable throughout, really outstanding at her job. Highly recommended to all.

De lo mejor que hicimos en Colombia! Nos gusta mucho el café, entonces no podiamos ir a colombia sin ver cómo crece, se recolecta, y se procesa. Pero no nos imaginamos que iba a ser tan increíble la experiencia! En la finca nos recibieron muy cálidamente, tanto la familia, como todos los perros y pollitos que habian! Comenzamos con una prueba del café preparado de dos formas diferentes, y entendimos las diferentes notas que tenia el sabor y el aroma. Después nos vestimos de Caficultores y subimos un poco la montaña, recolectando todas las cerezas de café que pudieramos encontrar. Subimos hasta el límite de la finca, donde pudimos tener una maravillosa vista de la ciudad, y tomar unos respiros de aire fresco (y unas grandes fotos). Al bajar nos recibieron con una limonada deliciosa, y nos enseñaron cómo procesan el cafe para separar el grano, secarlo, pelarlo y molerlo. (Mucho de esto con el mismo café que nosotros recolectamos!) Terminando la demostración fuimos a probar de nuevo el café, pero con otras dos maneras de prepararlo. Esto mientras nos servían un postre de Plátano, guayaba y queso. No recuerdo el nombre pero estaba muy rico! Pasamos un gran dia, y lo volveríamos a hacer si pudieramos. Muchas gracias a Juan Pablo por darnos el tour, y a Don Antonio por recibirnos en su finca. Y felicitamos a Yuly, nuestra guía principal, que desde que nos recogió hasta el momento que nos regresó fue muy amable, conocedora (de todo, no sólo del café), y la pasamos muy bien con ella también. 10/10!

What an exceptional tour. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We had actually taken the Chocolate farm tour with Oscar a couple of days earlier. We decided to cancel the coffee tour we had booked with another company in order to go on this one with Oscar. His English is brilliant and he is really able to explain the process and answer all of your questions in a clear and concise way. We have done so many tours around South America over the last couple of months and these two tours we did with Oscar were by far the best, most informative and value for money. Neither tour we did with him was advertised as private but that is precisely what we got. A private and personalised experience well thought out and enjoyable from start to finish. What we did on the tour: - Taste Coffee prepared in different methods and an explanation of how the varying methods impact the flavours you can taste from the coffee. (We also got to taste the tea from the coffee berry skin) - Some time spent picking coffee beans (this was really enjoyable and quite a peaceful experience). - Walked through the process once the beans were extracted -Also got to meet the owner of the farm, who stopped by and had a chat with us. I read in other reviews that this might happen and I expected it to be gimmicky. However, despite the language barrier, he sat down and had coffee with us and answered all our questions while Oscar patiently translated. Honestly such a lovely man. Also, bonus - on the way to and from the tour, Oscar will give you a little mini tour of Medellin and the areas you pass through!
