Chichén Itzá (Mayan: Boca-del-pozo (chichén) de los brujos-de-agua (Itzá)) is one of the main archaeological sites of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It is located in the municipality of Tinum, in the state of Yucatán. It consisted of a city or a ceremonial center, which passed through different constructive epochs and influences of the different peoples that occupied it and that promoted it since its foundation. Important and renowned vestige of the Mayan civilization, the main buildings that remain there correspond to the period called Late Classic or Early Postclassic (800-1100 AD)
Izamal was one of the important sites of the Mayan civilization. A large settlement in the northern plains of the Yucatan Peninsula. The size of its buildings and the network of sacbés roads (white road built in Mayan antiquity) are evidence of the religious, political and economic power that this city had over the vast territory of the Mayab.

Go Tours is a no go. Tried to upsell us the evening before the tour, then after waiting for pickup at the appointed time for one hour, no response to texts, calls and emails, requested our money back from Trip Advisor. Wasted a precious day in Merida.

The guide didn’t show up, we were ready and waiting. Didn’t send a message nor phone to cancel. Very bad service.

The tour company phone was constantly busy and we could not confirm our tour and pickup location until 8pm the night before when we got an email, We assumed the trip had been cancelled. After an on time pick up the guide announced the itinerary as published. We were three couples on the bus and though it was supposed to be an English language tour the other two couples were Spanish speaking and though I speak some Spanish, my wife speaks none and the guiding was 90 percent Spanish, which pretty much left her out of the entire trip. While enroute to Chichen Itza, where we wanted to go, one of the Mexicans told the guide that the travel agent who sold him the ride said he could have deer tacos for breakfast at Itzamal and just like that the guide reversed the Itinerary and we were getting to Chichen Itza last. So the guide didn’t move the group along and by the time we finally got to Chichen Itza we were told the site would close in half an hour. The rest of the group sprinted through the feature attraction but we declined to go in as it cost $1500 MX pesos ($75 US) entrance fee for two and we knew we would have to return another day. We were Pissed off and exhausted when the driver and the taco guy wanted to go look at Valladolid. I had to insist that No, we were going back to Merida. An ugly ending to a very poorly guided trip. wouldn’t recommend Go Tours to anyone.
