The archeological zone of Chichen Itza is a source of invaluable data for the knowledge of the prehispanic past. Because of its beauty and uniqueness, it is a cultural reference for all Mexicans, and, to a large extent, a symbol of indigenous and national identity. At present it is also a tourist destination for more than a million people who visit it every year. The most prominent building in the metropolis is the Pyramid of Kukulcán, which has become an emblem of Mayan culture throughout the world. As a pole of tourist attraction, Chichén Itzá faces today, at the beginning of this new millennium, a formidable challenge: to achieve a sustainable development and guarantee its integral conservation, in order to preserve it and leave it as a legacy for future generations. The area destined to the public visit has an extension of 47 hectares.

We will enjoy 2 hours of free time to explore here with our expert bilingual guide. If we have time, we will visit the Cenote Ik Kil. There will be toilets and changing rooms near the cenote. There was no trip at all. We received no confirmation about the pick-up time and no one showed up. We tried getting our hotel’s receptionist to call their office number, but there was no one there. The other reviews are from March 2020 and we suspect that the company is closed due to COVID-19.

The trip was excellent, started off with a visit to Chichen Itza, followed by lunch at a buffet place with traditional food (but it's full of tourists as you would expect), and then a visit to a Cenote. The guide in Chichen Itza was knowledgable and I enjoyed the visit. Lunch had a good spread including tacos. The cenote was lovely and a sight to marvel at. However, I do think it was quite busy (but can't be helped). Overall a good tour.

Too many vendors going after you for sales. Could not enjoy the beauty due to this. Every step you were bombarded with someone trying to sell you something. Uxmal much nicer and no sales harassment.
