On this tour you will go deep into the mountains of the ¨Ruta Puuc¨ and discover UXMAL. This ancient Mayan city is decorated with highly detailed sculptures, buildings made with thousands of small stones perfectly polished and adjusted to geometric mosaics of a perfection not found in the entire Mayan area. You can go up to the top of one of the buildings to enjoy the impressive view it offers! We will continue our tour visiting the Cacao Museum, where you will travel back in time to an era of splendor of the Mayan people. You will be able to witness the original preparation of the hot chocolate and discover the taste of this ancient drink, an extraordinary experience for your senses! Before returning to Merida, we will make an stop to discover an amazing cenote, a unique and memorable place you cannot miss during you visit to Yucatan.     From Mérida we will head towards the south of Yucatán State where the archaeological zone of Uxmal emerges spectacularly, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. On our tour we will discover the secrets of this ancient city, decorated with highly detailed sculptures, buildings made with thousands of small stones perfectly polished and adjusted forming geometric mosaics of a perfection not equaled in the entire Mayan area. You can go up to the top of some of its buildings to enjoy the view of this beautiful city that is lost in the middle of the Maya jungle. You should live it! The round trip by car will take 2 hours in this tour.

  • Choco Story uxmal, Uxmal, Yucatan, Mexico
    We will continue our tour of the Choco-Story Museum, located in the facilities of Hacienda Uxmal, an old sugar plantation, where you will travel back in time to a splendor time of a Mayan town. You will learn how they lived, about daily life, you will walk among their homes perfectly represented in this museo, their cornfields and gardens and you will learn how cocoa was transformed into chocolate by ancestral Mayas. The museum is interactive and is made up of several rooms built in the typical Mayan hut style. In addition, you will be able to witness the original preparation of Chocoh ha ', hot chocolate and discover the taste of this ancient drink, an extraordinary experience for your senses! You cannot miss one of the most special moments of this visit, the Mayan ceremony in honor of the god Chaac.

The highlight of an all-too quick week in Yucatan and Playa del Carmen were two days with guide Gabriel and driver Pedro with Travelezza Tours. The first day was Uxmal and the second was Celestun. We recommend doing both as they were so different. From the minute the three of us (husband and college-age daughter) were picked up at our hotel, Gabriel shared a wealth of information including history, architecture, archaeology, flora, and fauna. The Uxmal ruins were beautiful, well-preserved, and not crowded. Gabriel's explanation of Mayan culture was so helpful in understanding our visit. The chocolate museum was fascinating. Gabriel took care to point out tons of birds in Celestun -- we saw flamingos, roseate spoonbills, pygmy kingfishers, and many more. Gabriel well tailored his tour to our interests -- for us, he arranged it so we saw a little of Merida after Celestun. We were in good hands with Pedro's driving. Thank you for a terrific two days!

First class operations, from booking to your guide and driver. Luisa handled the booking, efficiently answering queries and making suggestions to accommodate our plans. Gabriel was our tour guide. He provided excellent historical details and cultural notes on the places we visited, and fully answered all of our additional questions. David was our driver. He was friendly and helpful, accommodating our requests. Gabriel and David are both from the local area. It was great to see the pride with which they shared their Yucatán culture with visitors.
