This is a magnificent museum. You could spends days here exploring Mexico's ancient past. Mayans, Aztecs, Olmecs....It's fantastic. Be prepared to spend a few hours here before your Azteced out. The skip the line is in the inside; not the outside security line.

I bought skip the line tickets despite mixed reviews because I couldn’t really figure out whether they were any good. General admission tickets to the museum are 90 pesos, or about $5 at today’s exchange rate. These tickets are $9. It seemed like a reasonable hedge in case it would save waiting in a line for an hour or more.
We (two people) went today. The line was not really long — less than ten minutes to the main door. But this is where it gets tricky. No one skips the line to the main door, which is the security line. Once you’re in the museum lobby, there’s a ticket line. You can walk directly to the next door and enter the exhibit area if you already have your ticket. Today, there were multiple ticket windows open and it didn’t look like a long wait. There was room for a long line inside and if the security line was around the block there might or might not have been many more people inside. And don’t forget — if you’re carrying a backpack or large bag, you will probably have to check it. Today there was no line at the check room, but I can see that being an issue.
Note, too, that there’s nothing special about these tickets. They’re advance sales, and there are other sources for advance tickets, including a stall we passed in the market in the Bosque de Chapultepec as we walked to the museum. I don’t know whether these, too, cost more than face value.
So we probably paid a premium for not much. It could have been different, but I think the security line is the big fly in the ointment. But it was a waste of $8, not $100 and I knew it might not amount to much.
By the way, the museum is great. Don’t miss the Mexica (Aztec) exhibit.
