We had a tour on Monday March 13 with a company called “Stepping Mexico”. This was the first time we booked an activity on Tripadvisor. Based on our experience, this will be the last one as well. The trip had two parts: first a visit to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan, and after that a visit to the Basilica de Santa Maria de Guadalupe. The first part, the Pyramids of Teotihuacan tour, was very short. Our driver took us to Entrance 3 and handed us over to a local guide. The guide had a barely understandable English, and he did not seem to be particularly knowledgeable about the site. The Google map I enclosed shows the approximate route we had taken with him from the Pirámide de la Luna to the Pirámide del Sol. According to the time stamps of our photographs, the whole tour took about 1 hour. The driver picked us up at Entrance 2. The next day, when we visited the Museo Nacional de Antropologia, we realized that we entirely missed the rest of the site, including the Templo de Quetzalcóatl. The second part, the visit to the Basilica de Santa Maria de Guadalupe, was excellent. Our driver had good English and he knew a lot about the place. That justifies the 2/5 points. The reader may look at the other reviews I wrote about our one-week trip to Mexico City. We had a great time partly because we planned our trip carefully and we paid attention to every detail. It was only the Pyramids Tour when we relied on a professional tour guide company. For the amount of money we paid, we expected much much more than a brief stroll between two pyramids.
