This tour was a memorable and wonderful experience. Our driver Francisco was a very safe and good driver. Our tour guide Rafael was charming and told really great stories about history and places of interest as we drove from Mexico City to Teotihuacan.
Our first stop at the Tlatelolco was so informative and Rafael explained the significance of the site. We then continued our way to Teotihuacan enjoying the vastness of the outer cut limits. The ride was a little bumpy at times, but nothing too crazy.
The demonstration about the onyx and mezcal were both really interesting. The gift shop was amazing with so many beautifully made items. I especially loved the dog we met there’s we referred to them as Pyramid dogs. The one we saw was so sweet.
The pyramids of the Sun and Moon, Temple of Quetzalcoatl, and the Avenue of the Dead were remarkable. Rafael really knew his history and told us so many amazing facts. His book of images and maps really helped us visualize what the area might have been like centuries ago.
Next we went to have lunch at the wonderful Restaurante El Jaguar. There was a delicious buffet and amazing performers. The property was really beautiful and us a recreation of the Aztec ōllamalitzli court with bleachers.
Our final stop was the Basilica de Guadalupe. The sheer beauty of this compound is beyond words. Nestled on the property were several shrines and churches. Each were beautiful in their own way. There was a long stairway that was a challenge to climb. Once we made it to the top, we were blessed with the most amazing views of Mexico City.
This tour was so good and I really enjoyed the experience. I would highly recommend this tour. Such a memorable experience for me.
