Muralism has been a big thing in Mexico for almost a century and some of its exponents are also considered to be among the country’s greatest artists. Murals are much more than just aesthetics though, they act as detailed representations of the political and social environment of Mexico throughout its history. If you’re interested in learning some Mexican history, murals are a great place to start. Most of them are located in historical buildings and museums you can not miss in your visit.

There are 3 emblematic places that this tour considers to enjoy the muralist movement, of which 2 buildings are entered depending on the day of the week. From Tuesday to Friday it includes a visit to the Secretary of Public Education or the Colegio San Ildefonso if you request it at the beginning of the Tour. On weekends we visit the Colegio San Ildefonso and the Palace of Fine Arts.

Excelente tour, muy completo e imprescindible para entender no sólo la obra de Diego Ribera, sino la historia de México y de la capital. Balaam es un excelente guía y se nota su pasión por el trabajo y por el arte, y adapta el tour para que sea completo y dinámico, e incluso nos ha llevado a une pulqueria al finalizar. Lo recomendamos al 100%!!!

Un viaje fascinante al corazón del arte y la historia en el Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México. El recorrido a pie entre los impresionantes murales ha dejado una huella imborrable en mi memoria. Cada paso fue como adentrarse en una época pasada llena de expresiones artísticas cautivadoras y relatos que cobran vida. Debo admitir que nunca antes había sentido una conexión tan íntima con la historia y la cultura de esta manera. La mia visita ai Murales di Città del Messico è stata un'esperienza indimenticabile, resa ancor più preziosa dall'eccezionale guida, Balam. La sua profonda conoscenza artistica e la passione con cui ci ha accompagnato attraverso le opere hanno arricchito notevolmente il mio apprezzamento per questo straordinario patrimonio culturale.
Balam ha saputo catturare l'attenzione del gruppo con storie coinvolgenti e dettagli interessanti su ogni murale che abbiamo incontrato. La sua capacità di trasmettere la storia, la simbologia e il significato dietro ogni pennellata è stata stupefacente. Grazie a lui, ho potuto immergermi nel contesto storico e sociale in cui sono nate queste opere, arricchendo la mia comprensione della loro importanza.
Tra le opere più straordinarie, spiccano i capolavori di Diego Rivera e David Alfaro Siqueiros. Le opere di Rivera raccontano la storia del Messico attraverso colori vivaci e personaggi iconici, evidenziando la sua abilità nell'intrecciare l'arte con un profondo messaggio sociale. D'altra parte, i murales di Siqueiros sono stati un incisivo richiamo all'azione e alla riflessione, con un impatto emotivo che risuona ancora.
Le opere di questi artisti non sono solo un piacere visivo, ma anche un'esperienza intellettuale e emotiva. La bellezza delle opere è ulteriormente enfatizzata dalla maestria con cui Balam le ha presentate, consentendo a me e agli altri visitatori di cogliere la loro grandezza e importanza.
In conclusione, la visita ai Murales di Città del Messico è stata una tappa essenziale nel mio viaggio, resa straordinaria dalla guida competente e appassionata di Balam e dall'incredibile eredità artistica di Rivera e Siqueiros.
