    We will leave Quito early in the morning towards the northwest. We will cross the populated area north of Quito. After 65 minutes of travel, we will stop at the Alambi or San Tadeo reserve. We will pass through different ecosystems until we reach the cloud forest. In Mindo, the highest daytime temperatures are around 19 °C / 62° F.

  • 28J9+6G8 Alambi Reserve, Quito, Ecuador
    Alambi is a private reserve full of playful hummingbirds and other bird species. The reserve is located at the lower part of the Tandayapa valley at 4,900feet. This place is dreamy and perfect for taking pictures or filming the hummingbird flying on a slow-motion video. One of the experiences of this place is that you can feed the hummingbirds by holding a feeder and they will approach you with complete confidence. If you are lucky, we can find other species of birds such as the Crimson-rumped Toucanet, Oropendolas or Tanagers, Quetzals. Occasionally, they visit this place. Not far from this place, you can see a coffee plantation.

    Lepidoptera or butterflies. These insects throughout their lives undergo a series of complex transformations known as metamorphosis, in which the embryo, larva, pupa and imago phases occur. You can witness this wonderful event in the Mariposario de Mindo. A garden full of these multicolored beings. The color factory is a greenhouse, where you can walk among butterflies and even feed them. An ideal place for nature lovers. Children will be fascinated with this activity in the cloud forest.

  • Mindo Nambillo Cloud Forest Reserve, Mindo, Ecuador
    Waterfall sanctuary is the best experience in Mindo. Cascades are located within a pristine protected forest in Mindo Highlands. We will take the "Tarabita" (Cable car powered by a car machine). The cable car will be the beginning of our adventure. We will cross over from one slope to another one, covering a distance of approximately 500 meters. From the cable car, we will observe the beautiful of the humid and warm Cloud Forest, cover by a dense and green vegetation of trees and plants of different sizes. Walk along by trails that will lead us to a series of waterfalls, starting from the smallest one until we reach the largest waterfall where visitors can enjoy a swim or dive in the refreshing and clear waters. The hike is about 2.5 km / 1,5 miles, on irregular terrain, where there are downhills and uphills. The activity is intended for children, adults and senior people. You do not need to have special training, although you should have a little experience in medium-distance walks.

    Besides, Mindo offers activities such as: Zipline which consists cross over 3 different cabes in the cloud forest. Another option, travellers can visit the butterfly spot, where you can observe the butterfly metamorphosis. You can also see the entire process that cocoa takes before becoming chocolate bars and see other derivative products that can be obtained from this fruit. If you love water sports, a great option is tubing. Tubing consists of getting on a series of inner tubes tied together and descending 3 km on the river. The suggested activities will be coordinated by our Guide, according to the available time or passengers' expectations. Finally, Transfer back to Quito.

This full day Mindo Cloud Forest tour was outstanding! Our guide Eduardo is knowledgeable with the various types of eco-systems especially the wildlife & birds! This tour offers flexibility with the different types of activities available and how much time you want to spend at each one.
