    Once at 1.900 meters above sea level (6,233 ft), hummingbirds, air plants, orchids and other surprising exotic species will take our full attention! After going all the way through the curvy road, we will stop at different viewpoints to enjoy the amazing scenery.

    After taking pictures, we will drive straight down to Mindo village, which is located at the southern edge of the Choco/Andean hotspots of biodiversity that stretches from south-western Colombia to north-western Ecuador. The Mindo area has international importance for birds, designated as the first area in South America by Birdlife International in 1997. On this enchanting green kingdom a profusion of life awaits your discovery! That is why you will take a cable car that goes through a 530 meters-long-cable, to the other side of the mountains!

    After the unforgettable ride, you will hike between 1 to 2 hours, depending on your physical condition, to visit the most beautiful waterfalls known as: “Ondinas”, “Guarumos”, “Colibríes”, “Madre” and “Los Maderos”. In any one of them you could have a refreshing soak! Your private guided tour will acquaint you with the exuberant vegetation of the cloud forest, its birdlife and the fascinating adaptations to life in this special environment.

Had an amazing day touring Mindo with our guide Oscar! We first drove to a hummingbird sanctuary with a hundred hummingbirds zooming around and even drinking nectar out of our hands. Truly amazing! From there we went into mindo cloud forest to do a canopy tram and short hike through the jungle. Ate a nice lunch in the town of mindo and then toured a local orchid preserve with a ton of cool flowers. Overall the day was incredible and our guide Oscar was top notch. Had a ton of knowledge to share about the country/ nature/ and history of Ecuador. For a private tour I thought the price was very reasonable. Just a heads up there was about 4-5 hrs of driving but Would highly recommend for nature lovers.

Stunning views on the 2.5 hour ride from Quito. Take comfortable walking shoes, rain gear, and water. Stopped to see tanagers, hummingbirds, and toucans. Also beautiful orchids. We ordered lunch at La Tonga, then hiked for 1.5 hours to waterfalls in the cloud forest. After the hike had a relaxed lunch with our guide, Katherine, and watched more hummingbirds as we ate. Visited Yumbo’s artisan chocolate factory. We’ve been on several chocolate tours. This was the best ever. Highly recommend this tour.
