Expect to walk a 3-mile loop on a well-groomed trail that passes between enormous boulders and side canyons. The trail has a good walking surface and steep uphill pitch in parts, making for a challenging hike suitable for strong hikers. Or skip the hike and simply relax at the vehicle with time to soak up the beauty around you. Either way, your 4WD tour takes you to some of the more remote parts of the Canyonlands so that you can experience this stunning landscape firsthand.

  • If you have an Annual National Parks Pass, please bring this for your park entrance fee, otherwise you will need to purchase a day pass for $15
  • Every 4x4 tour needs a minimum of 3 individuals to run. If your trip does not meet the minimum the day prior, you will be offered other tour options or get a full refund (Another option is to pay for the 3rd fare)
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

What a fantastic day trip! Brandon our guide was really fun and engaging! He was very knowledgeable and a very safe driver!!! He had us on the edge of the rocks, especially ELEPHANT HILL! Food was great followed by a hike

My 12 year old daughter and I had an amazing experience on the 4x4 Needles tour! Our guide Buzz was fantastic - very personable and extremely knowledgeable about the local history, flora and fauna, and he inspired a lot of confidence when driving on “roads” that defied that term (some of them didn’t seem passable by vehicle to the inexperienced eye — my daughter said the 4x4 was more fun than a roller coaster). Because the drive to/from the Needles district is relatively long compared to Arches NP or Island in the Sky in Canyonlands NP, we quickly got away from the crowds. The scenery is incredible and a different complement to what we had seen in Arches. The ‘joint hike’ was a great way to get out of the vehicle and experience a different type of hiking, with a rewarding view at the end. Really cool to walk through the joint and we were able to do a short side trip down a more narrow one, where we had to leave our packs behind in order to go through sideways and then climb up on top for great views and a high route back to our packs. Lunch was surprisingly good. Highly-recommended way to spend a full day off the beaten track.

This tour gives you an awesome experience at Canyonlands. Our group hiked without seeing almost anyone else. I want to give special thanks to our guide, Charlotte. She was fun, friendly, and very helpful on the hike. Also, the free lunch was terrific. ????
