USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park Admission Ticket

The “Mighty A” is located at Battleship Memorial Park, just a short drive east of downtown Mobile. Ample parking is available at USD 5/car and admission is USD 18 with reductions for children, veterans and seniors. Admission for Active Duty Personnel is free. There is much to see and do, so expect to spend at least a couple of hours. The main exhibit is of course the USS Alabama, which was launched in 1942 and fortunately became a cornerstone of the Memorial Park in 1965. Also the USS Drum, a 1941 submarine, is on show and in addition you can explore excellent and beautifully restored aircraft. The Memorials honoring veterans are definitely not to be missed either, and the entire Park is a must-see for visitors to the Mobile area.

The people at the park were very friendly. The tours are self guided but there are enough staff around so you won't get lost. You can spend as much time as you want there. I had never been on a battleship and if was awesome to see up close. The Submarine had one was in and one way out. You don't realize how cramp one of those are until you have the chance to experience it yourself. They have a nice indoor hanger with lots of airplanes and even some WW1 craft as well. They had a simulator ride. We didn't do it but people seemed to enjoy it. There were more aircraft outside as well as tanks and other armored vehicles. There definitely a lot to see and the admission price is well worth it.

This was our third Battleship tour and a host of other ships, both retired and active. My husband and I were both in the Navy. This ship is so very nicely done and has the absolute BEST static displays! Truly top notch stuff! The detail is remarkable along with the care taken to display period uniforms, pictures, and props. The tour itself is not guided by a human, but you are offered a guide sheet that carefully sends you on three distinct tours throughout the ship. These tours are very well thought out and easy to follow. Even if you do not have the sheet, the stops are numbered and are pretty easy to follow if you pay attention to where you are. Some people just stop and look at arbitrary things and that is okay, too. You can see most of the USS Alabama, and much of the USS Drum, which is the sub and part of the Memorial Park. The ship is still being restored and it is heartwarming to see the skill in the restoration, as well as the amount of work that has and is being done. Consider wearing comfortable clothing and shoes as there is some care needed in climbing around and over thick hatches and narrow passageways. We thoroughly enjoyed touring both the Alabama and the Drum and are grateful for the people that have worked so hard to preserve these amazing pieces of our Nation's history. I almost forgot! There is a huge hangar full of aircraft and military vehicles that are worth the time to see, also. Outside tanks and more aircraft. Truly a wonderful collection of History that everyone can enjoy!
