Great Houses were the grand homes of the sugarcane plantation owners in Historic Montego Bay. Beautiful architecture, antique furniture and art, the aesthetics of these establishments are magnificent and captured in time. With this tour you get to visit (2 of the 3) the most popular Montego Bay Great Houses; Greenwood Great House, Bellefield Great House or the Rose Hall Great House. Das was our guide for our visit to two [rather than three, despite the title of the tour] of Jamaica’s ‘Great Houses’. The two properties provided complementary insights into the history of the island, and its international connections. At each place, a house guide took us around the property, providing a well-scripted intro and explanations. Das provided extensive (and easily audible - not all guides are!) insights into the places we drove through, and lots else about Jamaica. And he too is to enjoy a coconut (plus its ‘jelly’) and beef patty after the tour. An excellent half-day trip!
