Starting from Piazza Grande, you will discover the history of Montepulciano and the deep roots that for centuries have shaped the local people and the Vino Nobile. A guide will lead you inside of two underground cellars, through tunnels dug into the tuff, and spectacular brick vaults. Here you will find the gigantic oak barrels, inside which the famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG and the Rosso di Montepulciano DOC “rest”. At the conclusion of every visit, you will enjoy a tasting of the wines, with an explanation of their basic characteristics. Very dissapointing and a waste of money! We did get a discount for the kids, but they should really be free as there was not much history or information given about the town. Our tour was to include 2 underground cellars. The first winery we went to did not seem happy that we were there and did not let us into the cellar as there was no one to look after the shop. Second winery was closed and we had to walk around killing time waiting for it to open. Cellar was not underground.

Laura was excellent. Very knowledgeable and a great pleasure to spend time with. We were very fortunate to have a private tour with her and we thoroughly enjoyed her expertise and her company.
