Best of Montreal Small Group Tour with River Cruise + Notre Dame

Mustafa gave us a great overview of the history of Montréal and was very efficient making sure we saw all the important sites and made it to the boat tour in perfect time. He was knowledgeable and friendly. The small group (6 of us) let us have a personalized experience,

This not the trip we anticipated based on the description. We did not expect to ride through a cemetery for 45 minutes to an hour. Much of the tour seemed to focus on celebrities and how much their homes cost. Other buildings and their values were also a big focus. We very much wanted to learn more about the city and its history but did not get much of that. Many facts seemed made up or embellished at best, as we could easily fact check on our phones in real time. Much of the information was repeated multiple times, like 3 or 4, quickly becoming redundant to fill time. More preparation on actual history and information about Montreal would have been necessary to avoid this. Most of the group was confused about what the Oratory was and its significance. Once inside I found it very rude that our group of 11 were paraded through an ongoing worship service and taken out a side door. Returning to the van after the Oratory, the van was extremely hot, as were the passengers. If the driver could have had it cooled down it would have been much more pleasant. We were all unclear on if, when and where we would eat lunch. Knowing that up front would have made for a more relaxing tour as we became hungry. The boat cruise portion of the tour was excellent and provided a great deal of information, although the restrooms were out of order and we were not allowed to re-enter the building. We would not recommend devoting this much time to this tour without learning more about the guides and what is covered vs. what is recommended.

This could have been better with a few changes The shuttle bus was too crowded. It was a hot day and the driver (not the guide) could have had it running and cooled off when we returned from our walks, but instead we had to get back on a baking bus. The most disappointing part was a full hour spent driving around a cemetery - could have done that in 15 minutes. The ad mentioned the Olympic village. We didn’t get close to it. Also, the guide didn’t really have his facts accurate. For example, he described McGill U as one of the largest in North America. It’s not even the largest in Quebec. Left me wonder how many other facts I heard were accurate or made up. It seemed more like a tour of homes and burial sites of famous people than a tour to tell me about the beautiful city of Montreal.
