Sais Airport, Fes, Morocco
Volubilis, Morocco Your first stop will be the ruined Roman city of Volubilis. French archaeologists began excavating Volubilis in the early 20th century, though half of the immense sight still remains beneath centuries of topsoil. Marvel at the famous sights, like the basilica, the triumphal arc, and the many palaces with their exquisite mosaics. The tour of Volubilis can be done either with or without a local guide.
Next you will make a quick stop in the adjacent small town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. Perched atop a hill overlooking Volubilis, Moulay Idriss Zerhoun houses the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss I (745-791), the first Arab king of Morocco. During your stop in Moulay Idriss Zerhoun you will go to a panoramic view point, visit the town center, and get lunch, a snack, or a beverage.
Youur last stop will be the mighty walled Imperial City of Meknes. Smaller in comparison to the other Moroccan Imperial Cities, Meknes held the status of capital of Morocco for only 55 years during the reign of the infamous king Moulay Ismail (1634-1727). Still, Meknes’s old city offers a trove of sights for a curious visitor: Moulay Idriss’s massive stables, capacious granary, and cavernous underground prison. You will also visit Moulay Idriss’s mausoleum (one of the only mosques in Morocco open to tourists), the monumental Mansour Gate, the covered food market, and the El Hidem Square.
Once finished with this busy day of sightseeing, you will take the highway back to Fez. You will drop you off at your hotel in the late afternoon/evening. 360 minutes
Omega Tour, Fes, Morocco After a morning pick up at your hotel in Fez, we will hit the road heading west. You decide which route we take: the highway, or take the scenic route with opportunities for taking pictures of the Oulad Shaker reservoir and the surrounding rolling countryside dotted with wheat fields, olive groves, fruit trees, and vineyards.

We actually did two tours with Omega, a private Fez tour without shopping and a private day trip to Volubilis and Meknes. We were very happy with both experiences. I highly recommend visiting Volubilis and paying the extra to have a guide take you around the site. We also engaged the guide for Meknes which allowed us to see much more than if we had wandered around on our own.
We always double-check the availability with our local partners for each booking. Even though this is usually a swift process, it can take up to 24 hours. Once this process is completed you will receive your voucher or ticket by email. If our local partner is not able to confirm your booking we will offer you the best possible alternative. If the new date and/or time doesn’t fit your itinerary, we will reimburse the full amount paid.
How great that you want to share your experience! Your feedback helps other travelers to make a better choice.
