    Constructed in the 15th century, Chefchaouen’s Grande Mosque was built on the orders of Moulay Mohamed Ben Ali Ben Rachid, the son of the city’s founder. It features an octagonal minaret, which is somewhat unusual when compared to the many square minarets that generally tower over the nation’s myriad mosques. The shape was influenced by Andalusian styles, brought to the country by Muslims from Spain. Built from stone, the shades of brown and beige are juxtaposed against the nearby blue and white buildings. Admiring the mosque is among the top things to do in the city. Do note that non-Muslim visitors are not permitted to enter the mosque.

My guide Mohamed knows his city, his country, his culture at his fingertips. Centuries past to today. He’s a passionate, exciting guide who answers everything. I hesitated to take this visit because I found it a little expensive but I absolutely regret and strongly recommend it. The price doesn’t do everything but for the moment I think it’s better to put a little more to have a licensed guide who knows his culture perfectly. Already eager to come back accompanied to discover the blue pearl, chefchaouen.

My friends and I throughly enjoyed this walking tour. Mohammad reached out shortly after booking to introduce himself and share his contact information. He arrived promptly at our hotel to pick us up. He tailored the tour to our schedule while still showing us all chefchaouen had to offer. Mohammad was very knowledgeable about the city and its history.

Our guided tour of Chefchaouen medina was awesome and Mohamed was amazing! He is very knowledgeable, informative, friendly and flexible. We had a great time getting to know the history and culture of the Blue city and it was a memorable experience
