    Near the famous Grand Socco Square, you'll explore the Souks (markets) that sell vegetables, fruits, fish, olives, spices, and much more. You can taste the Pastilla (a traditional Moroccan dish in the form of a sweet or savory meat pie with Werka (ورقة), leaves of dough similar to phyllo. You'll learn about the Moroccan Tajines, the recipes, and the ingredients required to prepare these dishes.

  • Medina of Tangier, Tangier, Morocco
    Visit a local Faran or communal bakery, which is typical in every Moroccan neighborhood. Most neighborhoods have a communal oven where the local woman can take their dough to bake. Even though most homes have ovens, visiting baking facilities is still a popular Moroccan tradition when making bread at home. From here, you'll walk up through the intricate alleys to the Kasbah District. Enjoy the stunning views of the Tangier Port, Iberian Peninsula and the Rock of Gibraltar.

We signed up for one Viator food tour and then it was cancelled late the night before. So in the morning we signed up for a different Viator food tour, went to meet our guide at the assigned place and when he didn’t show, I discovered that tour had also been cancelled, about 2 hours earlier. So we never had a tour. Not too happy!

Mohammed was a great friend during our 1 day stay in Tangier. We got to learn a lot about the food and culture of the city that he grew up in. From street food to food market stalls and back alley coffees this tour had it all. Really good conversation and experiences throughout the 3-4 hours. We never felt rushed and was able to fully take in the city with a full stomach and happy taste buds! Highly recommended

Hamid was an expert guide who introduced us to the wonders of local cuisine and life in the Medina of Tangier. Very informative and well acquainted with the hidden gems of food offerings locally. This was a fantastic tour of local markets, food shops, and various stands that Hamid peppered with stories of pertinent history and flavor. We were given the opportunity to taste several treats along the way and had a full day that filled our senses and bellies. I would definitely take this tour again and highly recommend Hamid!
