The seven day Lemosho variation is preferred over the six day option because it breaks up day two into two days, providing better acclimatization and a more gradual ascent. On the seven day route, we walk from Forest Camp to Shira Camp 1 on day two, a reasonable altitude gain of 2,000 feet. Then on day three, we continue from Shira Camp 2 to the little used Moir Hut, at 13,800 feet. Overall the exposure to this altitude will help prepare the body for higher altitudes coming on the following days.
However, the trek from Barranco to Barafu, followed by the summit day are unchanged from the six day Lemosho variation. This schedule is still very tough, though the extra day on the mountain on the seven day route will help climbers deal with the exhausting itinerary better than those who opted for the six day route. However, this can be adopted to suit your preference.

My GF and I come from Quebec, Canada, and we wanted to do both the Kilimanjaro and a Safari. It was a long process to find the good company to book with and we’re more than happy to have picked Rafael and Three Peaks Tanzania Safari. We knew he had been a guide/trip manager for 10+ years for various companies and that he was starting a new business of his own. We had heard good comments about him from friends but it was still a hard choice to trust a totally new company. We don’t regret our choice.
First and foremost, Rafael was very reliable. Everything he promised was done with no overcharge. This is a big thing for us because we had read a lot of things about people paying for their trip and then having to pay more when they got in Tanzania. Every thing went just as we wanted.
Plus, the service was exceptionally good. For instance, KLM lost our luggage in Amsterdam. Fortunately, we carried most of the stuff we needed for the hike with us in the cabins, but still we lacked some essential stuff like winter boot for the summit day on Kilimanjaro. Rafael’s staff picked up our luggage at the airport when it arrived, hired a porter to meet us on day 4 of the trek with the gear we needed for the coldest days in altitude. This is just one example. In another instance, most companies wouldn’t offer French guides on the mountain or they would offer it at a very expensive price. Rafael found us a very good French speaking guide named Frank.
I honestly think that we succeeded going to the summit thanks to the good guiding of Frank and Rafael. They were going at the perfect pace to reach the summit without getting exhausted. This is a skill that, as we have seen, many guides in other companies lacked. Plus, we always felt in security. Our guides were very professional, carrying oxygen tanks and taking our oxygen saturation to make sure we were ok.
Second, it was a very good trip for the price we paid. There’s a lot of variation between quotes of different companies for safaris and the Kilimanjaro. Rafael only sent us to 5 stars hotel when we’re in the city, and he only sent us to the best camps in the safari. We had private tents, hot shower etc. We had a private tour on Kilimanjaro. Everything was as good as it could be and for much less than what other companies charge for shared tents and lower quality hotels.
Another important thing for us is that many companies take advantage of their porters. They pay them less than the minimum salary required by Tanzania. They lower the price to get more clients and still keep their profits. Some porters don’t get more than 5$ per day to carry 30Kgs. We know that Rafael takes care of his porters and employees. He pays them well and value their work. This was important to us.
We had a really nice trip and if you’re looking for a safari or Kilimanjaro, we can only recommend Three Peaks Tanzania Safari!

Once this process is completed you will receive your voucher or ticket by email. If our local partner is not able to confirm your booking we will offer you the best possible alternative. If the new date and/or time doesn’t fit your itinerary, we will reimburse the full amount paid.
