The tree is used by the traditional healers from the nearby communities for Rituals and medicinal purposes using the bark of the tree. Some peoples believe that the tree can be used to chase away the evil spirit. The forest walk also involves visiting and if interested taking part in our conservation initiative on either spending 30-45 minutes in our tree nurseries watering and managing young seedlings or plant some trees to help to conserve the forest. From the edge of the forest in the southern part, the hike can be extended to the rice farms where the local farmers conduct an irrigation farming system to more than 3000 ha of rice plots.

Peter was an amazing guide and picked us up at our hotel and even brought us back again. He told us all about the different animals, trees and plants whilst the forest walk. He is so funny and his interest for wildlife is addictive and we loved to hear about his stories. He has a lot of experience and we would recommend going on a tour with him anytime. Thank you Peter for the lovely time!

The forest tour was great. It was really nice to get out of the city buzz for a few hours and take some time to explore around the forest, rice field's and see the monkeys! Peter was a really good guide, he knew a lot about the forest, different trees and animals and the lifestyle of the farmers. Very much recommend :-)

The Rau Forest Hiking Tour was really nice! We saw lots of monkeys and special kind of trees and fruits. We also really enjoyed the Rice fields, it was wonderful! You could walk between the fields. The guide Peter has lots of knowledge and is really kind. He is very flexibel and willing to help you. He picked us up at our accomodation. We would definitely recommend this tour to others! Thanks Peter for the wonderful experience!
