I truly do not know how Altezza does it, but they managed to get our team of 14 trekkers up to the summit of Kilimanjaro even when so many of us doubted we could make it. We were supported by a team of 48 staff - porters, cooks, bathroom attendants, guides - and every single one of them managed to be kind, friendly, and supportive in a difficult high altitude environment. Without a doubt I would never have made it to the top of Kilimanjaro without the Altezza team. I cried saying thank you on the last day because I was so grateful. I would like to give a special shout out to our guides Stanford, Agrey, Lihiru, Michael, Joseph, and Honest for everything you did for us. They checked on each of us multiple times a day including health checks, encouraged us, sang songs when we were too tired to keep going, and bonded us together as a team (“one team, one dream!”) When I was too tired to keep going on summit night, Edmund carried my backpack the rest of the way up. When I got altitude sickness near Stella Point and thought I was done for, Stanford held me up and gave me oxygen. Agrey walked with me hooked up to oxygen from Stella Point to the summit; I absolutely could not have summited without their help. On the way down, Lihiru held me up for hours so my legs didn’t give out. This is a team of amazing people. The food is incredible, so much so that I was asking the chef for a recipe book. The tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads were great, and I was warm even in very low temperatures. The Altezza team knows what they are doing - if you are climbing Kilimanjaro, you MUST choose Altezza.
