Discover Madeira in a relaxed and accessible way with our Trail Experience. The starting point is Poiso, at 1400 meters above sea level. A gentle ascent allows for a gradual introduction. Our guide assesses the skills of each rider before presenting two options: either explore easy single trails in the forest or follow the roads and gravel paths to the Levada, the traditional water channels. Regardless of skill level, each participant will find a suitable challenge. Together, we then glide leisurely at about 850 meters above sea level, covering approx. 25K along the Levada. The route takes us through picturesque laurel, eucalyptus, and pine forests, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries can be picked. We follow the Levada through the colorful Camacha and tackling the last exciting 10 kilometers down to the Lokoloko Shop on paved roads. Precise braking is required during this descent – a spectacular conclusion to an unforgettable tour on the breathtaking island of Madeira.

  • Poiso, 9135, Portugal
    After a small briefing with tips and tricks about the tour and the mountain bike, the tour starts at Poiso (Alt.1400m) with a small and easy uphill.

  • Levadas, Levadas, Portugal
    Moments later and after the guide's suggestion based on the skills of the riders, we have the possibility to ride in some easy single trails or to continue on the road and dirt roads until we get to the 'levada' (water-channel). From here (Alt.850m) it is a 20km relaxed ride along the 'levada' where we will be surrounded by a beautiful mixture of laurel, eucalyptus and pine trees.

  • Camacha, Camacha, Portugal
    Near the village Camacha we stop for a cold drink and a light lunch in a very typical bar. After the stop, we continue our 'levada' that crosses through the colorful village of Camacha, before we start our final ride with more or less 10km of smooth road, all the way down back to the Lokoloko shop, that only requires the effort of fingers on the brakes, but always with a big view over the ocean.

  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Today's experience was not easy. We started driving through the forest where there were rocks and tree roots. This was the hardest part of the whole ride. Later we entered the levada where the road was easier, after the levada we stopped for food and drinks. And the rest of the ride was on the highway to Canico. Thank you Gide for patience.

Avis aux riders, cette île est vraiment un super spot pour le VTT. D'abord une premiere petite sortie effectuée en famille pour découvrir à la demi journée cette partie de l'île (quelques descentes puis bordures de levadas...) Puis quelques jours plus tard grosse sortie enduro/navette avec plus de 30km de descente au total sur des monotraces aménagés ou non. Super journée... Guide VTT local qui connaît chaque chemin comme sa poche et adapte la sortie en fonction du niveau. Matériel de bon niveau (pedales SPD à disposition, reglage SAG des suspensions en fonction du poids...) Un énorme merci à Lokoloko et à Fabio, le meilleur guide VTT de Madère, du monde et peut-être au-delà ????
