Your Mount Rigi self-guided day ticket grants access to one of Switzerland's most famous mountains. A preferred outing for families, hikers or lovers of a relaxing day in nature, the mountain lays like a peninsula within Lake Lucerne and Lake Zug, right in the heart of Switzerland. It is very easily connected from Lucerne by boat, train or private car to Vitznau or Weggis, and from Zurich by direct train line or highway A4 to Arth-Goldau. The 360-degree views from the top are stunning and the countless optional activities provide full relaxation for everybody.

  • Beaware of the closing times of the cable car by visiting rigi.ch prior to your travel. Use Vitznau train line instead (no refund due to this!)
  • GOOD TO KNOW: The ticket can be used at any time during operating hours; you don't need to stick to the starting time. The train runs every hour!

Travelled to Mount Rigi with my husband while celebrating our anniversary in Switzerland. The cogwheel railway was a comfortable and scenic ride. Views at the top of the mountain were incredible, and made our special day even more spectacular! We were very lucky with the weather, having warm sun and decent visibility in late October. Nice little shop and a couple of places to have a meal or snack. Make sure you check the cogwheel railway times carefully, as these change throughout different times in the year. Some of the walking areas can be a little steep, but pace yourself and enjoy the 360-degree views! We would definitely recommend a visit - Mount Rigi is such a beautiful place, and one of our favourite Swiss attractions!

Absolutely an amazing experience that I enjoyed solely but would have been worth even with kids... wonderful sightseeing, good services, well pathways instructions!

We took the boat from Lucerne to the train which took us up to Mt. Rigi. Then we walked down hill to the cable car (very crowded) on a beautiful trail (not at all crowded). The day was magical with spectacular views and even cows with bells. We chose Mt. Rigi over Pilatus because the live cams and forecast showed better weather. The hotel concierge provided tickets for a much better price than the place in town.
