    After marvelling Jvari you’ll continue your road and visit - Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century). Location was chosen precisely because of the legend that says that the robe of Jesus is buried in the place where the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral was built and it is considered one of the holiest places in Georgia.

Mtskheta (the original capital of Georgia) is home to historic Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, places I'd visited once, dreamed of returning to see again, and was eager to learn more about. These are UNESCO World Heritage sites for good reason--absolutely awe-inspiring, beautiful and moving. I was SO fortunate to return, this time with tour guide Khatuna, who told me a wealth of wonderful stories and history I had not heard before. Our stop at the Chronicles of Georgia monument was also wonderful. The sheer size of it alone is striking, but to see such beautiful sculpture and so much of Georgian history rendered in one space was truly moving. Khatuna also had great guidance for which souvenirs to purchase where, and steered me toward the work of a local artist, which I appreciated! These sites are absolutely worth the visit if you'll be in Tbilisi, and I highly recommend friendly.ge for the friendliness, knowledgeability and flexibility of the tour guide.

Our guide Aleksi was really good at explaining the historical and religious context of the Jvari Monastery, how Christianity began in Georgia, and he complete his story when we went to the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. He took us to the nunnery as well. We concluded our tour with a visit to the Chronicle of Georgia. Aleksi provided door-to-door service - from our hotel and then dropped us off at a restaurant where we had our dinner. What made the tour wonderful was his strong passion for telling Georgia's history, and thoroughly explaining Christianity's roots here.

Amazing tour, travel through Georgian history with very professonal guide Aleksi. Guide gave a lot of useful info, so we could have the overall impression of historical facts and could get great insight into different monuments and monasteries. We had wonderful time!
