We really were looking for something to "go local" and at same time get out of the noise and traffic of the city. This really foot the bill for us and would recommend it in a heartbeat for anyone else of like mind. But if you are not adventurous (my 60+ year old mother would have hated this tour, for example, due to the adventure and amount of walking primarily at the fort). We were always with a guide from the time we left the hotel in the morning until we returned that night, so we were never worried or had to fend on our own. Vesai Fort is not to be missed (I love history and ruins, and have visited such all over the world, and this has to be among my favorites!) And to spend a day without the constant noise of honking horns and traffic of Mumbai proper was a much welcome respite. Add in the local indian food lunch, afternoon chai tea, walking Vasai beach (don't go into the water anywhere in/near Mumbai--even our local tour guide advised us against it, so that is saying something about the pollution of Mumbai in general!), and ending with the sunset boat tour. The woodworking shop turned out to be much more interesting than I was expected. The only part of the tour that I didn't care for was the visit to local churches. While historically and culturally interesting, compared to the great churches of Europe these were unexciting and felt more of a time-fill rather than memorable. Our guide Leroy was awesome, and Amaze Mumbai Tours took excellent care of us the entire day. Would recommend them to anyone without hesitation, and would personally use them again for advertised or custom tours in Mumbai anytime.
