The town hall in Munich with its tower driveway is a great experience. The town hall canteen, open to all from 12.30, is not bad and very central at Marienplatz, unfortunately there is permanently a very unfriendly old cashier, (only cash) who manages to spoil the actually good food. Hospitality is not, more reminiscent of former Eastern bloc. Otherwise, this is almost an insider tip in expensive Munich.
